THE TWENTY-EIGHTH ANNUAL SENIOR ART EXHIBITION
The Twenty-Eighth Annual Senior Art Exhibition will run from March 5 through April 1, 2025 at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts on the Missouri State University campus. This is a juried, fine arts exhibition organized by the Gerontology Program at Missouri State University which is housed in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Gerontology. The exhibition is co-sponsored by Jean and Jerry Sanders, Studio 55 Arts Guild, Robert (Butch) Purvis from Corebridge Financial Services, and Copy This on the campus of Missouri State University. All visual artists, age 60 or older, are invited to submit work for this juried exhibition. Two original entries per person are allowed. All work must be completed within the last three years and must be framed and equipped with hook eyes and wire (prepared for hanging). Submissions can be two- or three-dimensional and crafted of any medium or any combination of media. A $5 non-refundable donation is required for each piece entered for the exhibition. These fees will be placed in the Senior Art Exhibition Fund to help underwrite costs for future exhibitions. Submission of entries to be considered for this juried fine arts exhibition must be hand-delivered to the Fuldner Lounge at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall between 1-3 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025. Three jurors will evaluate the submissions and select pieces meritorious of recognition. Jurors will select one piece as the Best of Show with the winner receiving a $150 cash award. Jean and Jerry Sanders will choose one piece for the Sanders Memorial Award with the winner receiving a $100 cash award. Each juror will select a work deserving special merit as a Juror’s Choice Award and winners will receive a $50 cash award. Jurors will also honor one submission from each of the following categories: Three-Dimensional Award, Fabric Art Award, and Photography Award with each winner receiving a $50 cash award. Jean and Jerry Sanders have generously donated the funds to underwrite the cost of these cash awards! The pieces selected for the exhibition can be viewed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the fourth and fifth floors of the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts from March 5-April 1, 2025. A reception honoring the artists will be held on Thursday, March 6 at 6:30 at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts on the fifth floor. All are welcome to attend. For more information on this event, or to request a Call for Entry form, call Dr. Bradley Fisher at (417)886-2675.
