Promoting artists and art, through exhibitions, education and fellowship
Kathy Purvis
Kathleen's artistic journey began in her garage, affectionately dubbed the "gessoed garage," where she first experimented with acrylic paints. Raised in the suburbs of Kansas City, Kansas, she was inspired by her two uncles, both of whom were professional artists. In the 1980s, she moved to the Missouri Ozarks and pursued her education at Drury University and Missouri State University, ultimately earning a master's degree in nursing. With a fulfilling career in pediatric healthcare, she served as a nurse practitioner for ten years before retiring in 2015. Despite her professional success in nursing, Kathleen's passion for painting has remained strong. Today, she continues to create art in her studio, reflecting her lifelong love for visual expression. Her journey exemplifies the harmonious blend of a career dedicated to caring for others and a personal commitment to artistic exploration.
