ARTIST/ DESIGNER BIO

Native Miami-born Mindy Tillery, a contemporary mixed media artist, grew up with a love and deep appreciation of being surrounded by beautiful spaces in her childhood home and the natural world. She studied art and architecture, with a passion for creating living spaces that reflect a balance of elegance with practicality.

Her creative journey has led her to many opportunities including interior design and jewelry design. After her successful career as a professional interior designer, she felt called back to her first passion and returned to her artistic roots as a full-time practice in 2020.

In December 2023 she relocated to Springfield, MO to be closer to her son. She is currently a member of Fresh Gallery, Formed Gallery, Studio 55, and Visual Artist Alliance of Springfield and enjoys being active in the Springfield, MO arts community. She has participated in numerous juried exhibits and has been the recipient of various awards.

Her creative process always begins with the exploration and experimentation of layering various pigments while working with multiple mediums + encaustic ( beeswax + tree resin ) by building up the surface as well as excavating the layers to achieve a multi-dimensional visual experience.

Her abstracted figurative integrations come from her curious fascination with beauty, flora, fauna, fashion, sacred geometry, astronomy, and profound truths discovered in poetry, including music, dance, meditation, philosophy, and prayer.
